In short: Hosting is the space where your website lives; maintenance is the work of keeping it online, secure and up to date. A website isn't published and forgotten. It needs a server to keep it online, a security certificate that gets renewed, backups in case something fails, and someone to change the price or opening hours when your business changes. That's what a hosting and maintenance plan covers.
What is website hosting?
Hosting is the server where your site's files and data are stored, connected to the internet 24 hours a day. When someone types your address, that server delivers the page. Without hosting, your domain shows nothing.

What does website maintenance include?
Website maintenance is the monthly work that keeps your site running, loading fast and protected. A good plan includes:
- A security certificate (HTTPS) renewed on time. Free Let's Encrypt certificates last 90 days; if nobody renews them, the browser shows "Not secure".
- Daily backups with a copy off the server, to recover the site if something goes wrong.
- Security updates for the system and its plugins.
- Monitoring: if the site goes down, whoever maintains it finds out, not your customers.
- Small changes: a price, opening hours, a photo, some text.
- Support when something doesn't work.

What happens if nobody maintains your site?
A site without maintenance doesn't fail overnight, but the risks pile up. The most common:
- The certificate expires and Chrome warns your visitors the site is "Not secure".
- An outdated plugin leaves a door open and the site fills up with spam or strange links.
- The server fails and there's no backup, and the site has to be rebuilt from scratch.
- The domain expires because the card on file no longer works, and the site and email stop working.
- The information gets stale: prices, hours or services you no longer offer.
Each of these problems costs more to fix than to prevent, and meanwhile the site loses customers and Google rankings.
Cheap hosting or a plan with maintenance?
Cheap hosting gives you the space; a maintenance plan also gives you someone responsible for keeping everything working.

Can I switch hosting without losing my site?
